Millburn interior designer - design process
Initial Meeting:
Our Millburn interior design company starts with an initial phone consult that last 20-30 minutes where you ask you more about your design needs while listening and taking notes. We also share how the design process of our New Jersey interior design firm works, step by step, as well as our fee structure. After that should we feel your design project may be a good fit we would schedule an in-person meeting that would be billed at our hourly rate. Here we would give tips and initial design ideas while walking through your home or office as well as measuring your space, and documenting it. To follow comes our interior design contract which includes a scope of work determined from our working meeting, including all furniture, fixtures and finishes we will specify including a good faith estimate of how long we think the project will take.
Design Process:
Once contracts are signed and retainers received, our interior design team begins space planning while developing color palettes and working on floor plans and mood boards for each space we are designing. In tandum we are sourcing furniture, lighting, flooring and other items specific to your project while lining up trades like contractors and tradespeople, window shade installers and many other trades who will help in the design of your home. Meanwhile we are scheduling interior design meetings with you to review mood boards and layouts, making revisions where needed. Shopping trips at the design centers in New Jersey and New York are also part of our design process if the client is able where we can show furniture in person and have our client test out sofas, see light fixtures, and many other furnishings we will use in the project. If you would like the room or homes to be ready for move in, or have timeframe you’d like implemented, we will show you items that we will need to order first, as lead times vary, as well as items that can be finalized and ordered as the project progresses, as well as where to spend and where you can save. Our interior design teams goal is to make the entire process easy, run smoothly and be enjoyable.
Next Steps:
The next phase, once furniture, lighting, flooring and other details are chosen, we start the ordering process where our New Jersey interior designers place orders, track items as they ship, receive and inspect all items. In the event that something comes damaged, we handle returns, file claims, working with vendors on your behalf from start to finish to ensure the design project runs smoothly.
Behind the scenes at our millburn, nj design office:
When we arent meeting, countless things take place at our New Jersey interior design studio including working on technical drawings, sourcing additional furniture and items needed for the project, ordering these items and tracking all open items, to name a few. We work closely with our contractors, upholsterers and all trades we are collaborating with, meeting these vendors in person at times to ensure your designs including new custom furniture matches are drawings, while managing progress on site with our contractors, while keeping you in the loop with weekly updates and in person meetings.
Installation:
We have all of the furniture safety stored in either a storage facility or brought to your home as items are ready, depending on your specific design needs and timeframe. During our install, that can last 1 to a few days, our NJ design team and team of movers (also art hangers, handymen, floor covering installers, window shade installers, etc) work carefully bringing items in, setting them up if needed, while we direct furniture deliveries, and place accessories just right. We cannot wait for you to see, enjoy, and live in your newly designed home or space. We are always just a phone call away after our installations.
