How to Host a dinner party with a certain “je ne sais quoi”

Summer can call for all types of celebrations, whether graduations, promotions, sports banquets, wedding parties or simple get togethers.
But in order to avoid hosting stress, here are a few things that can make all the difference:
Setting the table
Especially for outside, or casual dinner parties, a proper table setting can make it feel like a proper event.
Layer a tablecloth with woven placemats, mix in some vintage pieces alongside everyday dishes, and add a simple centerpiece. This could be cuttings from the garden, or a beautiful bouquet.
This takes twenty minutes and it changes everything.

Think about flow
Where will people gather before you sit down?
A little drinks station set up outside, a pitcher of something cold, glasses, maybe a small snack. This both gives guests a natural place to congregate, and means both you and they are comfortable from the moment they arrive.
(Plus, it is self-serve meaning you are free to manage the rest of the party)
Lighting can lift the mood
As the sun dips below the horizon, candles and string lights can transform the atmosphere completely.
Transforming a somewhat-dark backyard to a cosy warm milieu. Even the most casual backyard dinner feels welcoming with elevated lighting.
Keeping the menu simple
From a BBQ to a curated lunch menu, keeping things simple yet elegant can make preparing food less stressful while still keeping guests excited.
A beautiful spread does not need to be complicated, but rather fresh, plentiful, and something you are excited to share.
