This past weekend, our interior design firm was featured as part of the Roses to Rock Garden Tour in Montclair. The annual tour opens the doors of some of the most beautifully appointed private homes and gardens, and this year, we were proud to be part of it.

Designing for the annual garden tour to raise money for Van Vleck tour was a full circle moment for me. When I moved to Montclair I was 9 months pregnant with my kid, who was born a day later. As I was new to the area, and didn’t know anyone, Van Vleck was always a sanctuary for me where I would take my then baby often. As my kid got bigger he would crawl and run after bunnies, and spend forever starring and laughing at the fountain for as long as I would stand with him. It is such a special place to experience nature and lovely prewar architecture for a few moments, or more.

I am so happy to donate my time, design prowess, and resources to such a special place.

Every project starts with mood boards and sketches, and this exterior design and table scape design were no exception. Here are some of the images of items, inspiration and textiles that inspired the direction of the space.

A special thank you goes out to Pooky and Christopher Farr for generously lending us materials for the space. Working with brands that match our aesthetics is always a privilege. We're grateful for their support and excited to continue to building relationships with makers and designers through projects like this.

Our interior design summer interns did such a lovely job and were an instrumental part of the designs and tour going so smoothly. They helped with everything from setting up to packing up, and spending time answering questions about our designs to countless people on the tour, in between. Projects like this require so much coordination and planning, and we are so happy it was a success!
