Our New Jersey Interior Design company was delighted to get a call regarding the design of this home located in Upper Montclair, as it is one of the few bungalow-style homes in the area. It is deceptively spacious with an open first floor plan including a guest room and office, and spacious four bedrooms on the second floor. We were brought on as our client’s closed on their home, as we often are, and advised on everything from the replacing and wood stain color of the wood floors throughout, to choosing new stone counter tops, and a paint color for the kitchen cabinets and island, as the cabinets were in great shape. We chose new lighting for the entire home, as well as paint colors for all rooms, which we normally do, while placing their existing furniture with new custom sofas and furniture in other areas.

Our interior design clients opted for a color palette of blues, greys and silvers throughout, which included a silk cloud-like wallpaper we had installed on one ceiling in their moody bar room, and added a mirror-glass chandelier in their open dining room to add elegance and move the light around the large open spaces in their open plan first floor. As with most of our interior decorating projects, lots of custom lighting was used where we worked with a trusted Brooklyn lighting designer, worked on custom window treatments and bench seats, with all details hand-chosen by us and presented to our clients in the form of mood boards and floor plans.

In the upstairs bedrooms, we made two rooms into the couples home offices facing the street, laying luxurious broadloom rugs, replacing the previous dated rugs, and painting the room in a dusty pink palette for her office, and grey-blue for his.  For their primary suite we also laid a luxurious rug and painted the room in a moody dark blue, the wife’s favorite hue, while changing some of the lighting plans and adding televisions where the client’s needed. For their bathrooms we chose paint colors, installed new vanities and beautiful mirrors in the guest bath, along with wallpaper in choice areas.
