East 66th street apartment redesign
A young professional relocating to New York City for work contacted my New Jersey interior design company to do the interior decorating for her very first solo apartment which was located in the heart of the Upper East Side, NYC. This light filled pre-war apartment was meticulously restored with beautiful parquet wood floors, large windows facing the East River, with spacious bedrooms suites and bathrooms that didnt need redesigning. We used a color palette and inspiration from where our client is from, mixed with luxurious materials and subtle pattern wallpapers to create a space our client felt was their sanctuary after a long work day. We went high low with this project meaning advised for our client to spend in certain areas like on a well made sectional sofa, dining table and chairs, while saving in other areas like the guest bedroom furniture, and even her bedroom. We used upholstered headboards with nailhead details found at big box stores, while splurging on elegant linens for her bed, including a washable silk duvet and shams. For the guest room we went with neutrals so that whoever stayed would feel comfortable and at home there, while using our clients favorite colors of purple, teal and gold in per primary suite. It was such a joy to decorate this young professionals first apartment both as it was her very first urban home, and her first home away from her family overseas. We engage our interior design clients and always keep the design process both fun while being transparent throughout the process, making it as seamless and effortless in feel, and feel its conveyed in the rooms we design.
