5th Ave New York commercial design

My Montclair interior design firm was sought out by a textile design company on fifth avenue in New York City as the owner expressed wanting a personalized touch, with more options as far as furniture selections than what a commercial design firm may offer. The reason was the owner’s desire to have more intimate meetings with buyers coming from all over the US and beyond to view her textiles, where they’d place large orders, thus need them to be comfortable in an upscale environment. With a background in high end residential and commercial interior design we were thrilled to take on a project that utilized our expertise in both creating custom, intimate spaces combined with studying how our client wants to feel, and how her team needs to function in the space. The owner had used an architectural firm before bringing us on so there were beautiful bones to work with that only required the perfect furniture to compliment the build out recently done, combined with our commercial client’s lovely textile collection.

We used a luxurious multi-color tweed reminiscent of a Chanel women’s business suite, for the extra long custom sectional sofa to give a feminine touch to the wood elements and surfaces. Tweeds also offer texture, likewise with the pair of armchairs, we wanted a neutral color fabric with major texture, to speak to the rest of the sitting area, without stealing attention away from our clients’ textile lines displayed throughout the rooms. We anchored the space with choice bronze accented tables, one with a handmade shell top, while others had a more rustic feel to add interest, giving plenty of room for laptops and textiles to be laid out during design meetings.

For the conference table that doubled as a work surface for the team to switch out new products, we knew it needed to read as high-end while being durable. We also wanted to eliminate harsh edges thus opted for an oval table with a striking brass gold tulip base, as a nod to midcentury classics. That was combined with custom ocher color velvet chairs, also durable enough for everyday use. To further the custom, luxurious look and feel of the space, we commissioned our decorative painting team to hand paint a custom gold shimmer paint on the existing white light fixtures, and fronts of all of the custom tables. We think its safe to say we delivered the personalized design our commercial design client had envisioned and so much more.
