Glen Ridge, NJ English Colonial design
A recent Glen Ridge, NJ family hired us to finish the interior design of their first floor. They had a few items they wanted us to work into the design including a dining table and sofa they bought when they moved, and had worked with an architect to renovate their English Colonial home, keeping original details like the brick mantle and original foot print, renovating the kitchen and primary bedroom and primary bathroom. Our Montclair interior design team worked with our clients bringing in a coastal feel, something the clients were drawn to, using rugs and case pieces with texture like the grasscloth-clad media cabinet in the dining room and neutral tone tribal area rugs in the living room. We added custom window treatments to all the windows using an ivory fabric with trim to compliment the wallpaper or paint in each room, and make them pop.
For the dining room and powder room the client wanted to get out of their comfort zone. They also entertain a lot so we thought to choose design that really make a statement and are also conversation starters. That was exciting for my design team as we think outside the box, like to use unexpected patterns, constantly looking for new designs from artisans around the world. Our interior design studio has countless wallpapers in our library, most with vibrant designs like colorful birds and flowers, to more abstract designs, as no two homes we design look the same. Wallpaper instantly transforms a space and we knew we could find the perfect options for both rooms. For the powder room we knew we wanted tropical with animals and flowers and after many rounds, chose a mural-like kaleidoscope of florals and exotic animals from Australia.
